Learning/Adults
Holy Spirit Parish is committed to the on-going faith formation
of all of its parishioners, young and old alike. Through these
experiences, adults are better equipped to share the Gospel
and to be more mature in their own personal faith. These experiences
also help them to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ,
becoming men and women of prayer with an alive and vital faith.

PRAYER AND REFLECTION EXPERIENCES
Centering Prayer
This
ancient tradition of prayer is a way of opening ourselves to
God beyond thoughts, words and emotions. We open our awareness
to God whom we know by faith is within us. Join with others
in learning more about this prayer form and its practice. Participants should have a copy of
Open Mind, Open Heart by Thomas Keating and/or A Taste of Silence
by Carl Arico. First Saturday of the month, 7:30 a.m, in the Holy Spirit Emmaus room. Come when you are able; no previous knowledge or experience necessary. For further information contact Mary Margaret Yaeger.
Spiritual
Direction
Thomas Merton describes spiritual direction as nothing
more than a way of leading us to see and obey the Holy Spirit
hidden in the depths of our soul. The object of spiritual direction
is to cultivate one’s ability to discern God’s
presence in one’s life, to notice and appreciate moments
of holiness, to maintain an awareness of the interconnectedness
of all things, to explore ways to be open to God in challenging
and difficult moments as well as in joyful ones. The director
serves as a companion and witness, helping to discern the divine
where you might have missed it and to integrate that awareness
into daily life. (Taken from Spiritual Directors International)
Date and Time individually arranged; generally about once-a-month
Moms in Touch
Moms in Touch is a non-denominational international
ministry. At Holy Spirit, a group of moms meet weekly for an
hour to pray for their children, school, and teachers. Materials
used: Bible and Moms In Touch booklet helpful, available at
Christian Book and Gift. No pre registration required. Contact Margaret for further information.
