Refugee and Resettlement Services
The Refugee Resettlement Program provides direct resettlement
for 90 days to ensure newly arrived refugees receive safety
and stability and begin to achieve self-sufficiency, along
with integration into their new communities, as soon as
possible. Refugees arrive in this country with few material
possessions. They initially need food, clothing, shelter
and assistance in obtaining necessary documents, education,
health care, and jobs Resettlement assists refugees in adjusting
to a new culture by offering individualized support and
case management.
Whether you can help a refugee ride the bus, set up furniture,
or even tutor a refugee, we could use your help. Below is
a list of just some of the types of volunteers needed. If
you are interested in any of the Refugee Resettlement volunteer
opportunities, please contact Mary Alessio at our Rochester office:

Catholics
for An End to the War in Iraq
When President Bush led our country
into War in 2003, he did so against the advice of Pope John
Paul II, and the Christian mandate to use force only as a last
resort. More than four years and thousands of lives later,
the wisdom of our Holy Father is painfully clear. In this spirit,
it is time for U.S. Catholics to stand and be counted as a
powerful voice for a new Iraq policy. Click www.catholicsforanend.org/about.php to learn
more about what you can do.
