Life/Get Involved
Ministry lies at the heart of today's parish. It is the work of the entire parish, and it is a part of belonging to a parish. We minister to each other, to those beyond the parish community, and to those with special needs.
Being a member of Holy Spirit Parish is a gift and a responsibility. As Christ lived his life for others, we, as followers of him and his Gospel, are called to minister to each other and to the community around us by sharing our gifts and talents. Holy Spirit Parish offers its members many ways to do this.
Each year parishioners
are invited to take inventory of the blessings that have
been bestowed upon them and to respond generously through
the sharing of their time and talent. The opportunities
below will help you minister to others through parish life.
If you would like to participate in any of the activities
and services described here, please complete the ministry
form.
Faith Formation Holy Spirit Parish has always been on fire with the Spirit. Just as a fire needs fuel to ignite, so does our faith. FiRE – FAITH REACHING EVERYONE – is the fuel for whole parish faith formation. Faith formation opportunities at Holy Spirit Parish span all age groups and include all members – singles, seniors, couples, teens and youth. It includes summer programs (VBS and BLAST), early childhood programs (Sparks), school-age programs for grades 1-5, 6-8 and 9-12 as well as a variety of adult offerings. We are blessed with the willingness of many parishioners open to sharing their faith to help others grow in faith.
Youth Ministry By virtue of our baptismal call, we are all to give witness to our faith. Involvement in the lives of the youth of the Parish is believing in the present and the future of our faith community. By lending a hand or offering a listening ear, we give our youth the courage to explore new ideas or to discover and utilize their gifts and talents. We also support the parents and families of our youth. Ministry with youth includes working with Councils, being chaperones, leading a mission trip and youth teams, as well as general support. Visit our Youth Ministry page.
Liturgy and Worship By reason of our baptism, all are called to participate in the ministries of the liturgy, offering service to the Christian community. These include liturgical ministry, hospitality ministry, children’s ministry, music ministry and nursing home ministry. Learn more about liturgical ministry here.
Sacrament Preparation Our sacraments are gifts from God which are given to us to make the love of God real and present in the world. They are events celebrated within the context of a worshipping community. Although sacraments are freely given, preparation is provided for each of the sacraments to help those celebrating the sacrament more fully understand the gift they are receiving/celebrating. There are ministry opportunities for the sacraments of Confirmation and Marriage as well as for the initiation sacraments celebrated through the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.)
Parish Life Holy Spirit Parish is vibrant and alive because parishioners share their gifts enthusiastically for opportunities to strengthen the community. There are many ways to be involved spiritually (Prayer Committee and adoration planning) and physically (Green Team, money counters, phone calling, providing hospitality, etc.)
Parish Leadership The heart of a parish is its mission. Leadership groups in the parish take key roles in keeping the parish focused on its mission. Groups at Holy Spirit include: Pastoral Council, Finance Council, Stewardship Committee, Liturgical Commission, Social Justice Commission, ENVISION Team, and Comprehensive Faith Formation Committee. Ministries in this area offer concrete ways of responding to the local and global needs of people. Examples of ministry opportunities include Habitat for Humanity, Channel One, Fair Trade and Funeral luncheons.Click here to learn "What's New in Justice".
