Worship/Music
Ministry
Music is a key part of what makes liturgy at
Holy Spirit so vibrant and alive. Music ministers encourage
and invite everyone to participate in our sung prayer as we
worship together. We pray that our song is a vehicle through
which the Spirit moves, inspiring spiritual growth and a deeper
commitment to living the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our daily
lives.
There are a variety of ways to participate in music
ministry at Holy Spirit. You can sing or play an instrument
in a group that has an ongoing commitment, or you may minister
as a cantor or accompanist on a short term or occasional basis.
You could even volunteer to start and coordinate a new group!
We have several mixed ensembles, a men's choir, a women's
choir, and a youth choir for grades seven through twelve. Music
ministry groups are scheduled on a rotating basis with varying
levels of time commitment required. Our music ministry coordinator, Cathy Nelson, can discuss these options more fully to help you determine
how you'd like to become involved.

Youth Choir is for anyone
in grades 7-12 who enjoys making music. We minister at one
Mass a month from September through April. Rehearsals are 7:30
to 9:00 p.m. the two Wednesday nights before the Sunday we
sing. (View our 2011-2012 Calendar). We also have an ice cream social in the fall, a social
gathering in January and a party in the spring. Youth Choir
is a good way to grow musically and spiritually. You can share
your gifts with the community and have fun forming new friendships
too! Register here.
