Shelter Ministries
Interfaith Hospitality Network The Interfaith Hospitality Network of greater Rochester
(Minnesota) is a network of volunteers from 39 churches
who offer food and shelter to families who find themselves
homeless. IHN offers these families the basic necessities
of life - food, shelter and security - while they are going
through their personal crisis. We give them a chance to
regroup, rejuvenate and then get back on their feet with
dignity. To volunteer, contact John, Holy Spirit IHN Coordinator.
Holy Spirit, Bethel Lutheran Church and Homestead United Methodist Church team up to co-host the following dates in 2008 (Homestead United Methodist is the shelter site): March 9 - March 16, June 25 - July 22, Sept. 7 - Sept. 14, Dec. 7 - Dec. 14.
Habitat for Humanity (Rochester) Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity
(RAHH) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to build
simple, decent, affordable housing for people in our community
who are economically challenged. Funding for the agency
comes primarily from local, individual, church, and business
contributions, and through the United Way. Traditionally,
Holy Spirit parishioners have volunteered their time, as
a group, on the 4th Saturday of each month. Contact Pat for more information.
Hunger Ministries
Channel
One is the local
food shelf and regional food bank that serves Southeast Minnesota
and Western Wisconsin. Each week, parishioners bring non-perishable
food to the altar for hungry people right here in our own
community. Holy Spirit volunteers take a delivery of the
donated items to the Channel One Food Shelf each Monday.
Donations of money, time, and non-perishable food are always
welcomed and appreciated. For further information about Channel One visit www.channel-one.org.
