Holy Spirit Parish Prayer
Holy Spirit.
We search for your will in all our affairs and strive to
joyfully give ourselves to you, in faith and trust, wherever
you may lead.
Holy Spirit,
help us.
We have experienced the good news of the Gospel and
seek to be a committed and joyful Catholic Community.
Holy
Spirit, help us.
We believe that our faith, hope, and love
is to reach to the ends of the earth, and seek to learn to
be in union with the whole world community, especially the
poor and suffering, through our shared experience and education.
Holy Spirit, help us.
We rejoice in the gifts you have given
us. We seek to share them with all who are in need, especially
the poor and those who yearn to know you better.
Holy Spirit,
help us.
We pledge ourselves to grow in faith and knowledge,
and to provide for the Catholic education of all. We recognize
a special blessing in the children and young people of our
parish and commit ourselves to their Christian formation.
Holy
Spirit, help us.
We strive to celebrate Liturgy that is alive
with people; that connects with our everyday lives and our
Catholic traditions; that deepens our faith, spirituality,
prayer, and sacramental life; and above all, is pleasing to
you.
Holy Spirit, help us. Amen.
A Reflection on the Seven
Gifts of The Holy Spirit
Come, Spirit of Wisdom, Lead the people
of Holy Spirit Parish to be open to your guidance; help us
to remember, always, that we are dependent on You; that we
have been shaped by You; and that we are led by You. Help us
to discern Your movement in our hearts, and in the parish community;
help us to surrender to Your Will, and to trust, not in our
power, but in Yours.
Come, Spirit of Understanding, You have
given Holy Spirit Parish the gift of joy; help us to retain
our initial enthusiasm and joy for as long as our parish shall
live. Help us to give all members of our parish a way to share
in enlivening the Spirit of the parish. May we always remain
a joyful and grateful community.
Come, Spirit of Counsel, Teach
us to be responsive to all our neighborhoods and workplaces
that need your love; help us to know that our parish is equally
for ourselves and for those who are lost or on the margins;
help us to remember that the poor are the center of the Church.
Come, Spirit of Fortitude, Bring us the courage to resist
discrimination against your children. Help our parish have
open doors for all who seek you; and to welcome and celebrate
their presence in our midst. Help us to proclaim your Gospel
boldly.
Come, Spirit of Knowledge, Help Holy Spirit Parish
continually renew itself in the Faith, reconverting each person
and family through the Gospel message, the teachings of the
Church, and the meaning of the Church for our times. Help us
value our children above all else; give us the light to educate
our young in the ways of faith.
Come, Spirit of Piety, Help
us to accept each other as we are with all our imperfections
and strengths. Foster in the hearts of the Holy Spirit Community
spirituality, prayer and Sacrament. Give us creative, joyful
celebrations to overcome the darkness of our world. Teach us
to celebrate a liturgy that is alive with people, rich in our
Catholic tradition and connects the Gospel and the Eucharist
to our everyday life.
Come, Holy Spirit, Fear of the Lord,
May we always remain grateful. May our parish always direct
itself, not to its own end but to the day of the coming of
the Lord. Teach us of your final coming; help us to yearn for
the day when justice, peace and truth will reign and all shall
be healed. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
