Fiscal 2023-2024 Financial Summary
Holy Spirit ended its fiscal year on June 30, 2023. Our parish financial position is stable, although the fiscal year ended with a small negative operating deficit.
In addition to routine parish operations, over the course of the fiscal year, we also:
fully funded the renovation of our worship space,
funded the upgrade of the parking lot, and
met our Catholic Ministry Appeal target
Thank you for your generosity!
This table outlines Routine Parish Operation finances compared to the prior year:
Tracking and Accounting for Parish Finances: Holy Spirit Parish giving and expenditures are tracked and managed in 3 distinct categories:
Routine Parish Operations: Represents the revenue and expense required to run the parish. Parish Operations includes staff compensation, office & technology expenses, faith formation, liturgy, school and diocese support. It requires a monthly budget of approximately $96,000. Revenue comes primarily from envelopes, EFT and offertory gifts. The parish is also the beneficiary of periodic memorials and bequests which help to balance expenses.
Building and Capital: In addition to routine operations, parishioners can contribute to a separate, "building fund". This fund is used to pay the monthly mortgage to the diocese. It also is used to cover large periodic maintenance or improvements such as a new roof or HVAC. In 2024, the building fund was used to pay for the parking lot re-surfacing.
Restricted Projects and Funds: Holy Spirit sometimes receives gifts and incurs costs for specific, identified purposes. A few examples are the Giving Tree, the Flower Fund and the Finish the Sanctuary and Floor funds. Each fund is separately accounted, and gifts to these funds can only be used for the donor's identified purpose. Accumulated funds from earlier years carry forward year to year.
